BECOMING AN INSTRUCTOR

What is required to become an instructor

The training of Krav Maga instructors requires extreme caution and responsibility, as it is a professional activity involving major risks, from those related to physical exercise, including character building and all life risks inherent in teaching an art of self-defense.

The poorly prepared professional poses a danger to his students and to society. The role of the instructor is to teach self-defense techniques, teaching when and how to apply them, developing self-confidence and self-control. By working the body as a tool of attack and defense, aggressiveness is released, directing this energy in a healthy and constructive way.

The instructor training process adopted by FSAKM is the same one created by Imi Lichtenfeld (Z “L), the creator of Krav Maga. This is a extremely strict process, as it guarantees the quality and high level of teaching, and the diffusion of the Krav Maga, attentive to the expectations and risks already exposed.

Implemented by Master Kobi, the instructor training system prepares the professionals to teach and guide the students, adding to the instructor the role of educator. To become a Krav Maga instructor, you must complete the following steps:

1- Become a trainee instructor (monitor)

After a few years of training, the graduating students who stand out are indicated by their instructors to join in the course of trainee instructors, which lasts 5 days, with 16 hours daily, closed regime, in our Training Center. The course includes theoretical and practical lessons of Krav Maga with Master Kobi; classes of anatomy, physiology and first aid with university professors; physical training and the experience of living with the essence of Krav Maga's philosophy of life. At the end, if approved in the course evaluations, the student becomes a trainee instructor(monitor).

2- Be nominated to participate in the instructors course

After gaining experience as a trainee (monitor).

3- To be approved in the entrance selective exams in the course of instructors

This process includes 4 items: the candidate's instructor's opinion, psycho-technical assessment, physical test and technical examination. Each one of these items is eliminatory and the candidate must be approved at all to move on to the next step.

4- Complementary studies

The candidate must complete the complementary subjects of anatomy, physiology, sports nutrition, first aid, philosophy of martial arts and marketing, with a minimum working load of 20 hours in each subject, in institutions recognized by the MEC (Brazilian Ministry of Education).

5- Krav Maga Training

This stage includes all Krav Maga theory, philosophy, didactics and practice, in which the candidate learns, step by step, how to teach correctly, through Krav Maga's own didactics. In addition, he understands how to behave in the classroom and the rules and standards of conduct of FSAKM. The instructors course has a total workload of 400 hours.

6- Be approved in the final exams and Term Paper

At the end of the course, the candidates are submitted to the final exams of all the contents taught and presents a Term Paper. With a proficiency index of more than 75%, they are graduatet and are authorized to use the Krav Maga brand, and must be supervised by FSAKM, which provides periodic refresher courses, which are compulsory for the renewal of the license to teach.

This is a rigorous and demanding process for the  candidates, but only in this way is it possible to guarantee the formation of highly qualified instructors, which contribute to the building of a better society.
